Achieve a Modern, Minimalistic Appearance with a Contemporary Concrete Roof Tile Installation
While often thought of as a traditional, Old World-like roofing option, concrete roof tiles can seamlessly pair with the most modern of exterior styles with the use of a contemporary installation. These include: rakeless installations, metal rake installations and mitered ridges.
Contrary to typical flat tile installations that use a 90-degree rake piece, a rakeless installation achieves fluidity and clean edges along the roofscape for a modern appearance. This can be done by using Eagle’s Rake Seal or a metal rake.
Specially designed to fit Eagle’s flat concrete roof tile profiles, Rake Seal serves as an easier, more cost-effective alternative to rake trim. It is a UV and weather resistant foam that prevents weather, debris and animal intrusion at all rake edges and gable ends. Metal rakes facilitate a similar purpose, but can be used with all concrete roof tile profile shapes; not just flat. The metal strips are visible along the rake when installed, but can be painted to match the exterior’s trim or fascia color.
A similar look can be achieved along the ridge – the top-most edge of a roof where two opposing slopes meet – by opting for a mitered ridge, which is only suitable for flat tiles. This is executed by cutting the field tiles to meet at the adjoining ridgeline, offering a more minimalistic look than traditional ridge applications, while ensuring weather blocking throughout the roof. Be advised that it is the sole responsibility of the Roofing Contractor to know what installation methods are approved by the specific city or county that you live in. Not all installation methods are approved by state and/or county building codes.
If you are interested in selecting one of these contemporary installations, consult with your professional roofing contractor. It is important to discuss this option prior to having the tiles ordered and installed as traditional rake/ridge tiles will not be ordered.
